The Upstate New York Homebrewers Association (UNYHA) is dedicated to sharing and broadening the appreciation of and knowledge about the brewer’s are within its membership and the public at large, through regular meetings and special events, in accordance with its philosophy of informed, mature and responsible enjoyment of homebrewed and commercially brewed beer.

UNYHA has been around since 1979.  While none of the original club members remain, some of our members have been around almost since the beginning, and new members join every year.  Membership has often exceeded 100 people and is currently around 100, making us one of the larger homebrew clubs in the country.  We are a diverse group; our numbers include many award-winning brewers, ciderers and mead makers, and we have a number of BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Program) judges in our ranks.

  • We hold monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of every month starting at 7:30 PM, often with an educational Brew Guru session starting at 7:00 PM.  There is no requirement that you bring homebrew to a meeting, but if you do, you will find plenty of folks willing to taste it and offer their feedback.
  • We hold an informal Pub of the Month gathering at various bars around town on the third Wednesday of the Month, starting at about 5:30 PM and running to about 7:30 PM.
  • We hold other events throughout the year, such as an Oktoberfest and a Summerfest.
